Artist Statement
In a recent magazine interview, the writer remarked of the variety of techniques he saw in my paintings. My response was that I believe different subject matter required different techniques.
Thinking of my response after the interview, I posed the question, Why have I never developed a “unique” or consistent style? A better response might have been: I consider painting a never ending learning process and I enjoy the challenge of trying a variety of style and techniques. Instinctively, I develop a style or technique that I consider appropriate to the subject matter.
As the Education/Workshop Chairman and Co-Chairman of Workshops for two art organizations, we brought over 40 nationally known artists to the area, for the education and enjoyment of local artists. Needless to say, over the twelve years I learned a variety of techniques to use and to pass on in teaching others.
